Synopsis
“THE TEACHER WHO PROMISED THE SEA” is the true story of the teacher Antoni Benaiges. The film highlights the struggle of so many families who are still searching for their relatives buried anonymously in mass graves.
Ariadna (Laia Costa) discovers that her father has been looking for the remains of his father, who disappeared during the Civil War. Determined to help him, she travels to Burgos, where they are exhuming a communal grave where he could be buried. During her stay, she learns the story of Antoni Benaiges (Enric Auquer), a young teacher from Tarragona who, before the war, was his father’s teacher. Using an innovative teaching method, Antoni inspired his students and made them a promise: to take them to see the sea.
